ROD WELLINGTON IN HIS COMFORT ZONE Shaun Howe takes out the State Pro Junior & Leah Wright is crowned Open Women's Champion in Geraldton Coolangatta, QLD; (Wednesday, February 27th): Leon Norris (Geraldton, WA) was honoured at the 23rd annual Australian Surfing Awards at Twin Town Services Club in Coolangatta with the Duke Kahanamoku Award for his enormous services to Surfing Australia and the sport of surfing. Norris, from Geraldton Western Australia, is a founding member of Geraldton Board Riders Club. The Duke Kahanamoku Award acknowledges an outstanding contribution to surfing at Local, State, National and International level combined with exceptional surfing administration skills that have contributed to the development of the sport of surfing in Australia. Updated: Jan 6, 7.00am Expect the swell to continue to pick up through the day. Wind is from the south at 17 knots and is expected to remain south all day, but with 36 degrees forecast it's possible that the wind situation may improve by mid-morning. Waves at the beach breaks are chest high on the sets. Medium reefs are also an option today. Low tide was .45m @ 6am and high is .9m @ 6pm. Water temp is 24.5 degrees.
